Welcome to Blessed Beginnings Collective!

I'm so excited to begin this journey with you! As an early childhood educator, former Christian preschool owner, homeschool coach, women's Bible study leader, mom and grandma, I am passionate about helping moms like you build a strong foundation for your family where you can flourish in your homeschool calling.

Years of teaching, mentoring parents and walking alongside early childhood families has taught me that educating little ones isn't about creating a perfect classroom environment-it's about cultivating a love for learning through age-appropriate hands-on experiences that allow children to grow and thrive while nurturing a foundation of faith.

My heart behind creating Blessed Beginnings Collective is to serve as an extension of your homeschool program — providing the practical resources, biblical enrichment, and early childhood strategies you need to confidently pour into both the hearts and minds of your children.

You don't need a teaching degree to create a meaningful homeschool experience for your children. As you discover what works best for your family uniquely, you will develop a routine and learning environment that reflects your values, nurtures your children and brings joy to your days. Welcome & Opening Prayer

Whether you're just exploring, new to homeschooling, or a seasoned homeschool mama, welcome to the first workshop in the Cultivate summer series!

My hope and desire is that this workshop will refresh and encourage you as we learn, grow, and cultivate the soil of our own hearts. Mom life is busy with little "me" time so, as we open the Word, let's discover what it means to "Sow on Good Soil" and find rest in the waiting.

Why Cultivate?

"Cultivate" = a deep sense of churning, digging, and breaking up of soil.

  • Definition: to prepare and use
  • Biblical context: to nurture or develop
The condition of the soil we sow upon will determine the outcome of what is planted.

The Life of a Seed

Seeds come in different shapes and sizes. Some are small and some larger but no matter the size each one has the same unique purpose I that it can only grow what it's meant to grow. A sunflower seed can't grow a daisy, and a marigold seed can't grow a sunflower. Each seed will only grow according to its nature.

  • Seeds are alive — inside each one is a living embryo, a tiny future plant waiting to unfold
  • When planted in the right environment with the right conditions, a seed will naturally grow and thrive
  • Inside each tiny seed is everything it needs to become something beautiful
Seeds don't have to work hard to grow — they just need the opportunity.

Application for Homeschool Mamas

When we look at a seed, it doesn't seem all that impressive. It's small. It's dry. It's ordinary. If we judged it only by what we could see on the outside, we might never imagine what it's capable of becoming.

Yet inside that tiny seed is life. Inside is everything God designed it to become. It simply needs the right environment — good soil, water, sunlight, and time — to grow and flourish.

I wonder how many of us feel a little like this seed. Maybe you've looked at yourself and thought…

  • I'm not experienced enough.
  • I'm not patient enough.
  • I don't know enough.
  • I don't think I'm equipped to homeschool my children.

But God doesn't look at you the way you look at yourself. He sees the potential He placed within you. He sees a woman He has called, equipped, and is faithfully growing.

Just as a seed already contains the life it needs to grow, God has already given you everything you need to faithfully thrive and flourish in your calling.

Our Theme Verse — Luke 8:15

Open your Bibles and read together:

"But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop." — Luke 8:15

Dissecting the verse — three questions:

  1. What is the meaning of the seed? The Seed is the unchanging Word of God.
  2. What is a good and noble heart? (The Condition) An inner character of deep honesty — open, receptive to truth, and ready to listen. It is the starting point.
  3. How does persevering produce a crop? (The Action) When an honest heart hears truth, holds on to it through hard times, and refuses to give up. Patient endurance — a daily commitment and continuing process.

The Four Types of Soil

Backing up to verse 11 — Jesus gives the meaning of the parable of the sower scattering seed:

The Hard Path

The Word is heard but never sinks in

A busy, distracted life — a place where we can't hear God speak

Rocky Ground

The seed springs up quickly but has no deep roots

Initial excitement and passion, but when challenges come, discouragement wins

Thorny Ground

The seed grows, but so do the weeds

Weeds of worry, comparison, perfectionism, fear, unrealistic expectations, overcommitment — things that crowd out what matters most

Good Soil

The seed penetrates because the soil is prepared

A teachable, honest, humble, surrendered heart where God's Word takes deep root

Before God grows anything through us, He first desires to grow something within us.

Reflecting on the Life of a Seed

  • The Seed is the unchanging Word — the only constant in our life
  • The condition of the soil is a person's heart — good soil has to be workable; it can't be hard
  • The same Seed can produce very different results — it all depends on the quality of the soil
  • Growth isn't always visible at first — seeds grow roots first, and roots give the plant a firm foundation. Growth happens under the soil before it happens on the soil.
✦What is one "seed" you've been hesitant to sow because you're waiting for the right conditions?
Resting Soil — soil that is constantly being worked isn't healthy. Sometimes the healthiest thing for soil is to rest. "Rest in the waiting" in Scripture is never passive. Waiting is active trust. A farmer doesn't dig up a seed every morning to see if it's still growing. He waters. He weeds. He waits. In the waiting, God is cultivating something in you.

Sowing on Good Soil

Isn't hard — Are there places where your heart has become hard?

Welcomes the seed — Are you making room for God's Word?

Produces roots — Are your roots producing fruit?

•

Requires faith — Do you trust God with the outcome?

•

Requires waiting — Is God cultivating something in you?

Is intentional — Do you want to grow deeper?

Before we can have a flourishing homeschool, we have to tend to our hearts first. The fruit we long to see in our children often begins in the soil of our own lives. A crop develops over time, not overnight. Jesus never promises immediate fruit, but He does promise fruit through perseverance — and a harvest if we don't give up.
